Elastic Observer
Elastic Observer is an AWS EC2 observability dashboard that helps users quickly identify cloud resource wastage using a combination of metrics, tables, and charts. The system supports both live AWS data by connecting to EC2, CloudWatch, and Cost Explorer APIs with read-only credentials and a fully mocked mode where a seeded script generates realistic, deterministic cost and utilization data for safe testing. The dashboard includes an instance utilization table with sortable columns and color-coded indicators for idle, under-utilized, and over-provisioned instances, a cost attribution panel that breaks down costs by region, instance type, and tags while clearly separating total, attributed, and unaccounted costs, and a live cost overview that shows monthly spend, daily burn rate, projected costs, and highlights anomalies and risk distribution.
